Introduction
Course Objectives:
1. The course will provide understanding on the anti-infective therapy in: neonates, infants, children, adults and the aged and the antibiotic prophylaxis.
2. The classification and aetiology of cancers, principles of cancer chemotherapy, classification, toxicity, pharmacology and managing of anticancer agents.
3. The course will help to identify examples for antibiotics and anticancer in Prophetic medicines.
Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course, students should be also to: describe the anti-infectious agents: antibacterial, antifungal and antiparasitic which are discussed under the following headings:
1. classification of antbacterial agents,
2. mechanism of action,
3. spectrum of activity,
4. mechanism of organism resistance,
5. description of factors that have contributed to emergence of antimicrobial resistance pharmacokinetics properties,
6. pharmacodynamic effects,
7. toxicity,
8. dosage regimens,
9. drug interaction and
10. clinical indication.
